Stone Tavern Farm Wedding

Stone Tavern Farm is one of our favorite Hudson Valley wedding venues! Located in Roxbury, NY, this historic 250-acre horse farm features an event barn, accommodations, outdoor event spaces, rolling hills, and farm life. Ben and Melissa enjoyed a beautiful wedding celebration at Stone Tavern Farm.

The Love Story

This sweet couple met through a friend while at Penn State. They hit it off instantly and after dating realized that there was nothing in life they couldn’t get through together. When they took a vacation to Florida with both sets of their parents, Ben was ready to propose. Right after checking into their hotel, he convinced Melissa to take a walk on the beach. They walked to a private beach on Singer Island and Ben asked Melissa if she would marry him! It was extremely romantic and a complete surprise. Family had flown in for the occasion and they celebrated with them for the rest of the weekend.

Ben and Melissa’s Change of Wedding Plans

Ben and Melissa had planned on having a larger wedding because they both come from large families. They originally expected almost 200 guests, but they had to change their plans when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. They decided to have a micro-wedding ceremony and postpone their reception by a year. Their reception ended up being on their 1-year wedding anniversary! Although some close friends and family were still unable to join them and were greatly missed, they were still able to celebrate their day in a more intimate setting. They enjoyed being able to say hello to all of their guests. Stone Tavern Farms was not their original wedding venue, either, but they were incredibly accommodating and supportive! They described both their intimate ceremony and wedding reception as “perfect days, surrounded by the people we love.”

Ben and Melissa’s advice for other couples was:

“My advice to any bride planning your wedding during Covid is to stay calm!! Remember you are NOT the only person in this boat. As frustrating as it is to wait even longer, your day will come and it will be even more exciting after such a long wait. Also—there’s nothing stopping you from getting married before your wedding date. Being married to Ben after all those years and being able to call him my husband was and still feels so special. We are glad we didn’t let the Pandemic get in the way of getting married.”
